Buckley Gate – Long, Naughty & Sunset Hills

Home
Just east of Buckley, there are some timberlands hiding between the White River and Carbon River. With no bridges accessing the area, there is only one official access, the Buckley Gate, located at the edge of town, across from the Rainier State School. The gate key for the Kapowsin Tree Farm also allows access to this isolated section of private land. Although these summits three have few redeeming qualities, there is a good chance you could spot wildlife during the winter months. Just during my two visits, I encountered a mother bear and her two cubs, and a herd of elk numbering 40 or more. Roads will lead you nearly to the top of each knob.
