Tabernacles/Chapels
In 1865, the early settlers worked together building a stone church house after the simple first log church wouldn't suffice anymore. The church house was a 44 by 64 foot sandstone structure with a vestry on the east end. It was completed about nine years later in 1874. A roof collapse was reported in 1875. Much of the lumber for the building was hauled from Bear Lake with ox teams. Although called a tabernacle, it was more of a ward building since it wouldn't hold a full stake. Used for 72 years. In 1983, parts of the building were moved to another site by the city while other parts were demolished. A new stake center was built on the site.
