For a quick spectacular view over Spokane and especially sunsets to the West, hike up Beacon Hill at the East end of town. There are numerous trails that will get you to a summit littered with communication structures but also a few nice picnic benches.

Prominence: 200 feet

Access and Route:
The best option is from John Shields County Park. Trails from this south side look to be protected into the future. Other access from the west side has good trails but most are on private property that someday will be homesites. I came up from Minnehaha Park with no issues but someday, this will not be a good option.
