Diamond Peak Lookout
The Diamond Peak Lookout was a 50 foot pole tower with an L-4 cab. It was built in 1934 and used into the late 1950s. The structure was destroyed about 1960.

Diamond Peak Lookout Site & Patrol Tower

This was a patrol platform tower 3/4 mile from the summit, just past the 4,413 point. The patrol tower looked into a blind spot that the lookout on the summit of Diamond Peak couldn’t see. This tower still stands and will soon collapse or get burned in a fire.
Diamond Peak Patrol Point
The access road was close in the late 90s to protect grizzly bear habitat. Some of the road is covered with young alders and deadfall. It's navigable, but some will not like it. The turn for the patrol point is at the last major switchback, a decent trail starts behind a rock. You will probably loose the trail once or twice but stay on the ridge and look for signs of the trail or flagging. You will be climbing over many logs and some minor bush bashing.
Route
From the west, a good gravel road comes north, then east up the East Branch LeClerc Creek. The road continues along the north slopes of Kalispell Rock before reaching the gate just before Petit Lake. Any car should be able get to the gate. Fairly good roads also come in from Idaho, south of Diamond Peak.
Access
Old trail marker on Point 4413. 245 is the trail number. The 2 is likely a trail junction 2 miles in the distance. The names and dates are mostly from the 1940s. Found by Tammy McLeod.
