The Swasey's Leap Trail isn't easy to reach, the road is rough. If you do have high clearance, you should be fine. Take exit 129 off I-70 and follow the Buckhorn Wash road 5.6 miles east then north to a road on the right. Follow this road 12.5 miles to the Mexican Mountain Study Area. The hiking trail (once a 4WD road) leads you 2 miles to the San Rafael River. The legend here is that Sid Swasey jumped a horse across the canyon here where the walls are 14 feet across but 60 feet deep to the river below.
