Tolmie State Park
Tolmie State Park is located near Olympia. The highlight is the beach access although the majority of the wooded 105 acres is packed with a surprising amount of hiking trails (3 miles total). Although there is no camping, the day-use-park offers five mooring buoys for boaters. Off the shore is an underwater park that contains an artificial reef for scuba divers. Other amenities include picnic areas, kitchen shelters and a large enclosed shelter.

Located eight miles northeast of Olympia. Take exit #111, and follow signs to park, approximately five miles. Park address: 7730 61st Ave NE Olympia, WA 98506
History:
The park is named for Dr. William Fraser Tolmie (1812-1886) who spent 16 years with the Hudson Bay Company at Fort Nisqually as a physician, surgeon, botanist and fur trader.

This is the main park trail, the sign says to plan for one hour to hike it. The route skirts the entire park hitting all the different forests the park has to offer. If you get tired, you can take the Twin Creek Trail back to the parking lot.
Sandy Beach Trail
This short trail takes visitors north along the beach just inside the trees to a better beach than the one near the parking lot.
Twin Creek Trail
This short trail goes from the parking lot to a midway point in the 4 Cedar Trail.
