Everybody enjoys a good viewpoint along the ocean, Pancake Rocks offers some unique geology and a good coastal view as well. The rocks are limestone, warn and sculptured by the weather. They look like stacks of pancakes layered on top of each other. Along the loop trail, there are information boards describing flora and what you are seeing. At high tide, there are blowholes. Keep small kids close, there are some drops not protected. Maximum time needed at this site is 30 minutes. Pancake Rocks is located at Dolomite Point, near Punakaiki on Highway 6. It is 44 km north of Greymouth and 57 km south of Westport.
