The Three Sisters

From the urban regions of southern Puget Sound, The Three Sisters are easily recognized although nobody can identify the names. Their location is top notch with views one direction over the Puget Sound lowlands while the other direction is Mt. Rainier. Roads go to all three summit areas and if there have been recent timber harvests, the views are amazing.
Distance: Around 8 miles total
Summit Elevations: 4,984 feet 4,076 feet, and 3,969 feet
Access: Gravel and dirt, high clearance needed.
Driving Access:
South Pierce Hikes
Access Permits:
At the south end of Wilkenson, veer left on Railroad Avenue passing the old schoolhouse and continuing to Sunset Lake Church Camp. From here, the road goes right and becomes a steep dirt roadway for a distance. Have a map of the route, there are many intersections and the road is not always the mainline. Expect the road to be rough in places; there is very little maintenance, especially once on Forest Service land. You will pass many shooting areas and dump sites, this is a free for all area, beware of some strange stuff happening.
These summits are on the Muckleshoot White River Tree Farm so a permit is required. Hancock Timber (Manulife Investments) was running the program for the Muckleshoots. In 2023, the website did not have any information but in the past, an annual White River non-motorized permit was 45 dollars.

Route:
From the gate, roads can be followed to the summit areas. If harvests are recent, you can just go directly up. You could easily bushwhack up South Sister (the highest one) without a permit and likely not be noticed.
