Located just inside the Elbe Hills State Forest is a forest covered hill above the old ATV Campground. In recent years, the Eager Beaver Timber Sale harvested much of the mountain. The Eager Beaver sale was a complex harvest area with many streams and wetlands considered, as well as ascetic appeal. The end design was celebrated as a model for future timber sales. Many environmental groups have visited the viewpoint where the picture on this page was taken. As you can see, the harvest operation did not remove the entire hillside but left many pockets and corridors for wildlife.
