San Pitch Mountains HP or Salt BM
For some reason, the San Pitch Mountains are not considered part of the Wasatch Front. They are the range south of Mt. Nebo, east of I-15 as you continue south past Nephi.
Here is the range from the Mt. Nebo Scenic Loop.
The highpoint has 3,677 feet of prominence!
The route I drove up was through Maple Canyon, a real hidden treasure with cool conglomerite rock cliffs on both sides. The place was packed with campers, hikers and rockclimbers during mid-week!
After a long 4WD road, I made it to within half mile of the short climb to the summit when I hit this snowpatch.
This is looking north to Mt. Nebo, the tallest Wasatch Mountain.
The hike up to the top was about 400 feet gain.
This is looking SE down the I-15 route.
Fool Creek Peak
Champlin Peak
Scipio
Peak 9723
Looking south at the road. The big snowpatch is where I parked. We also did Peak 9723 on the way back.
Kids enjoying the summit.
The highpoint and Nebo from Peak 9723.
Devil's Kitchen Geologic Area.
Mt. Nebo from Devils Kitchen trail.
North Mountain from road.
A few views from Peak 9723.
FYI for peakbaggers: Drove out Log Hollow Road...was much better and is more direct.
