Flat Top Mountain Loop
My next trip to the Oquirrh Mountains is this traverse from Lowe Peak to West Bald.
My objective was to summit Flat Top, an Ultra 57 peak with 5,370 feet of prominence. Along the way I would climb 5 others as well. Overall, a 14 mile 6300 foot elevation day.
Below in blue is a map showing the route I took.
After a quick hike up South Ophir Canyon on hardpack snow, I cut west to climb 2 easy peaks 8790 and Porphyry Hill. Looking north from this summit, is the picture below.
Taken from peak 8790 over to Porphyry Hill.

Looking over to Lowe from 9925. Would have loved to continue the peakbagging but I needed to be home by 6 and I was getting tired.
Looking down into Ophir Canyon.
Went down this ridge with snowdrift snow on the north side. Was perfect for snowshoing all the way to the bottom. One of the best 2500' snowshoe decents I've ever had.
Took this shot on the way home near Fairfield.
