I’m always getting asked what gear I use so here it is. Pick a category to the left and I’ll give my advice as to what I think is important about that item. My advice is based on my experience and often the experiences of others to support my advice. If I tell you everyone likes a specific freeze dried food, it is based on 20 years of outdoor experience and 7 years working retail around freeze dried food. I’ve asked thousands of people what dinners they like; I don’t just make this stuff up.
I also include information the retailers like to share about the products as well as a link to buy the item from their websites. These partner websites are all companies that sell quality gear and have given me the best customer service.
Feel free to contact me if you have any questions about gear. I don’t know all the specifics of every new product but I can offer good advice whether an item is a good fit for your level of activity. Talk directly with the companies if you want to know what other colors a jacket comes in but I’ll tell you if it’s too light or overkill for climbing Mt. Whitney in August.
