The Long Canyon road is just over 7 short miles but the scenery is spectacular through a narrow red sandstone canyon. Long Canyon makes for a good return route to Moab after visiting Island in the Sky District of Canyonlands National Park or Dead Horse State Park. The highlight of the road is a huge sandstone boulder that fell off the cliff and allowed enough room to get the roadway underneath. At the base of the canyon on Potash Road (Hwy 279) is Jug Handle Arch. This route takes less than an hour to drive.
